Steckfeld SF1 on iPad: a patch of modules in the bay, cables lit between them

01The bay

The whole patch at a glance.

Parts sit on a plate in a grid. Cables run straight from one part to the next in line; a junction splits them, merges them or takes them round a corner. Every cable is lit.

  • Red carries sound
  • Blue carries control: notes, envelopes, LFOs

02Parts

Nineteen parts. Up to four of each.

Pick one from the parts display, the tweezers bring it, you set it down where it goes.

05After dark

At night the displays turn red.

Put your iPad in dark mode and the SF1 dims like an instrument on a stage, so it doesn't dazzle.

The same patch in dark mode, the displays glowing red

06Wear

It ages the more you play it.

After 2, 10 and 30 hours the casing shows it: scratches, rust, a dent. The hours count once it's yours.
